Notes:
- Level Of Ease: Easy - the F#m11 sounds a little scary, but it is very easy to play. I have include 2 versions of the chord, so that beginners can use the open version which moves easily from the E to the F#m11 and sounds very nice.
- Song Key: E Major (4 sharps - F#, C#, G# D#)
- Basic chord progression for E Major is E - F#m - G#m - A - B - C#m - Ddim
- In the Instrumental 𝄆 𝄇 means you repeat the 8 bars of music between the double lines with dots - 16 bars in all. The remaining bars over several lines are played once.
- The repeat sign 𝄎 means you repeat the previous bar.
- The formula for any m11 chord is 1 - b3 - 5 - b7 - 9 - 11 . Often we see the 5th or 9th dropped, and sometimes both are dropped depending on the particular sound you are after. The 1st, b3, b7 and 11th are important as they give the chord its minor 11th characteristics.
- The open chord used here uses 1 - b3 - b7 - 11th notes of the chord dropping both the 5th & 9th as suggested above, while the barre chord version uses the 1 - b3 - 5 - b7 - 11th notes.
- Both chords sound great & for those of you that haven't learned barre chords yet, this is a great place to start, and is one of the easiest barre chords you will ever play.
- Who would have thought that F#m11 could be so easy! 😊
